Black Graduation
This year was a great success thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers from our student body, faculty, and staff. While this event was a great success there is always room for improvement. Below are some of the areas covered at our last BFSA meeting and I invite you to add any compliments or constructive criticism you would offer in the reply section to this post.
- A change in the number of tickets provided to graduates at the time of registration to 4 tickets per graduate.
- Printing of tickets for the main area not to exceed the number of allotted seats.
- Tickets sold at the door for the overflow room have an option to move into the main area organized on a first come first served basis.
- Doors to main area closed once the President rises to speak and are not opened except at pre-determined intervals by ushers.
- Have a seperate entrance for persons entering that have already been seated.
- Create a master plan/schedule for the event and distribute internally to all volunteers
- Have all volunteers attend a mandatory meeting at which the master schedule is gone over
- Off-setting costs previously covered by Cross Cultural Center and Student Life.
- Each member of BFSA sell 3 ads in the program
- Proof and edit of program performed by a member of BFSA
- BFSA point of contact on all graduation committees to serve as mentor for student leaders
- Fundraising efforts should begin at the onset of the school year (bring back the hotlinks)
- Consider a larger venue to host the graduation
- Consider going back to Wednesday evening
- Consider combining our event with the latino graduation event in the Coussoulis Arena (cost savings and increased capacity)
